Trans-Canada Air Lines reported a 52 607 350 loss for 1960 the first deficit in ten years. Revenue reached a record 148 986 526 while 1960 income stood at 14 723 881. Causes included lower revenue per seat mile and higher costs from DC 8 jets and turbo prop Vanguard operations.
Summerside Prince Edward Island police report three men missing and feared dead after a three story Clifton hotel fire. Earlier six were feared dead, but a precheck showed three reached safety. The blaze began on the second floor around 3:30 a.m. AST.

A blaze in Kelowna B C gutted five warehouses of the Kelowna Growers Exchange covering a block near the downtown area. Calgary General Hospital officials report at 1 30 pm today that Lyle McKee 20 of 44 Prospect Dr is in fairly satisfactory condition with slight improvement since Monday He was brought to Calgary from Medicine Hat Municipal Hospital after an early Saturday traffic mishap.

Macmillan revised a statement to condemn racial policy, with leaders urging clear opposition even as South Africa seeks continued membership. Verwoerd defended apartheid as equal but separate opportunity.
Eleven oil prospectors kidnapped by an unidentified band in the Spanish Sahara are safe in south Morocco. A Moroccan Embassy spokesman said two of the men are Canadians and three are Americans. Names include Jack Curzon, 27, of Red Deer Alberta and Brian Walker, 26, of Cowley Alberta.
Floyd Patterson retained his title with a brutal sixth round KO of Ingemar Johansson in Miami Beach. The crowd roared as Johansson staggered after a decisive counter attack and Patterson recovered from a dazed first round to finish strong. Postfight, Joe Louis praised Patterson as a true champion amid a celebrity-filled scene.
