Rock Blast at Kirkland Lake Claims Two Miners
In Kirkland Lake Ontario a rock blast between the 3500 and 3700 foot levels of the Lake Shore mine killed Michael Harrington and George Braaten both 28 and married. Two other miners Herbert Leyon and Russell Bates were entombed for about four hours then rescued with injuries but no hospital care needed. Leyon said before being treated that his bride back home would be upset.

Vancouver March 13 Hon A Wells Gray Provincial Minister Of Lands said the first of 200 Catholic Sudeten German families to be settled in British Columbia could arrive next month. The 35 to 50 year old families will take land near Pitts Meadows on land controlled by Canadian Pacific Railway 25 miles east of Vancouver. The remaining families will be placed later in the Peace River district.
