Six inmates at Joliet prison faced execution and started a riot that ended with three escaping after hours of gunfire by officers. Two Mexicans were later captured in Chicago as authorities hunted the remaining fugitive Bernardo Ron. Orlo Rizo and Roberto Torrese were identified among the captured, with reports noting a taxi driver was struck during the chase.
From La Paz Bolivia March 12 a Bolivian court executed one of the four assassins of Gen Joz Manuel Pando, former president killed in 1917. The three others receive ten year prison terms after ten years in prison awaiting the verdict. No indication which of the four was executed.
