Israel and Lebanon clash raises calls to withdraw

Israeli army clashed with Lebanese troops and guerrillas in a southern Lebanon village. Twenty four guerrillas were killed and ten Lebanese soldiers captured. After an earlier deadly blast, Peres and Rabin vowed to fight terrorism, while opponents urged immediate withdrawal from Lebanon.

An independent audit labels Auditor General Kenneth Dye’s challenge to Petro-Canada’s $1.7 billion 1981 Petro-Canada purchase as unnecessary.
