Battle over control of Vanshaw Enterprises escalates in Medicine Hat
Court records reveal a yearlong clash between Kevin Van Der Kooy and two investors, Albert Stark and Cam Christianson, over Vanshaw and the Casino by Vanshaw. Police were called in November to defuse a meeting among Van Der Kooy, Stark, and accountants examining finances. Affidavits discuss an interim receivership by Mayfield Investments related to Medicine Hat Lodge ownership, potential relocation to Box Springs Business Park, and alleged hidden liabilities. Stark seeks to certify his numbered company as controlling Vanshaw and to bar Van Der Kooy from operations, while Van Der Kooy claims Stark and others are attempting a hostile takeover. None of the allegations are proven. regulators say they were unaware of the receivership until contacted.
