Petrograd reports in Novaia Zhizn that on January 12 and 14 Japanese cruisers Mikado and others landed about a thousand troops at Vladivostock. Officials said troops were there to protect subjects, while Bolshevik-aligned groups reportedly mobilized in response.
London reports many casualties from the Thursday air raid. An 80 year old sister of a special constable was found alive beneath her home wreckage after hours. A young woman died trapped under debris after five hours. Another girl survived after hours of rescue. A hospital patient outside London died from wreckage injuries.
At a special City Council meeting yesterday on license cancellation for fortune telling gypsies, the license issued January 3 to Mary Stokes for palmistry within city limits was unanimously cancelled on motions by Aldermen Lang and Dell.

London reports the body of John Redmond was moved to Ireland last night with interment expected Sunday in the family vault at Wexford. Messages of sympathy from Queen Mary and Queen Alexandra were received by Mrs. Redmond. Queen Alexandra called his death an irreparable loss. About two thousand people from various parties and groups attended the solemn requiem mass at Westminster Cathedral.
