A devastating blaze at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis leaves many dead and dozens missing with scores injured. Efforts to account for guests continue as surrounding buildings burn and losses are estimated at one million dollars.
A seven story blaze at the Missouri Athletic Club in St Louis destroys the building housing the club and Boatmen's Bank. At least three dead, dozens injured, and about one hundred feared trapped as flames trap workers and guests. Rescue efforts save many by leaping to roofs and using improvised rope ladders.
A Texas dispatch says Rangers did not toss, nor participate in, exhuming Clement Vergara's body from Hidalgo cemetery and placing it on the Texas side of the Rio Grande. Governor Colquitt released a telegram from Captain Sanderson confirming Vergara's body was returned to American soil amid ongoing inquiries and a fall report expected from officials.
Three hundred deputy sheriffs armed with pick handles fought with about six hundred IWW protesters along the Southern Pacific right of way in Sacramento. Dozens were injured as campers were routed after the confrontation over General Kelly’s army of unemployed.

At about two this afternoon Annie Garlock was shot dead outside 406 Adelaide West by lover Isaac Estrene who then shot himself in the stomach. Estrene is in hospital. the couple were lovers pressed to marry and she delayed acceptance.
