Edmonton March 7 Liberals plus Independent Bow Valley ally J Mackintosh opposed the new provincial income tax bill as a division was required to admit it to the legislature. Treasurer Reid moved to introduce the money measure, with Premier Brownlee noting no debate needed at this stage. Second reading expected Wednesday.

Ottawa March 8 The Senate investigating committee heard how Senator W L McDougal backed the Beauharnois section of the St. Lawrence project. R A C Henry former VP of the company testified he discussed potential plans with McDougal and received financial backing for a broader water power venture. Henry noted $10000 was paid to hire consulting engineers for initial plans.
Two men were arrested in the lobby of the Boston and Maine Railroad station while attempting to contact the Lindbergh household by telephone. In Hopewell New Jersey authorities say investigation continues into whether any Lindbergh family member was involved in the kidnapping. Police said a trap was set in Bristol Pennsylvania resulting in the detention of two men and a woman who questioned about a seven page ransom demand for the Lindbergh baby.
