Edmonton March 7 Special to The News Alberta's 192% budget is under close review by Premier Greenfield and colleagues. The final draft remains unsettled as figures are refined and prepared for printing with plans to present in the House toward the end of next week in the eighth week of the session.
An official report on Monday’s clash near Cahirsiveen County Kerry shows heavier casualties than first released with Free State troops losing one officer and three soldiers killed and two wounded while irregulars suffer five killed and two wounded. A separate Dublin blast at Beresford Place killed Detective Patrick Kelly and damaged offices. Government expenditures rise as Mothers’ Allowance costs balloon from 39,472 in 1919 to 250,000 last year with municipal shares required under the act.

The 50 008 petition seeks a referendum on temperance measures with opposition in the house over the projected cost of over 200000 for a referendum.
Canada film Commission lists Fort Lennox at He aux Noix among landmarks saved from decay. Champlain named the island in 1609 after the first encounters between rival groups. The extensive fort, now obsolete, sits 12 miles below Lake Champlain and 10 miles from the U S border.
Edmonton March 7 Special to the News Aleerta introduces a 14 dollar a week minimum for women effective April 1 but will not apply until September 1 for manufacturing industries laundries dyeing and cleaning establishments and shops stores and mail order houses. The board may hear further representations before September 1 while other provisions take effect April 1 including hotels restaurants rooms and personal service occupations with probationary and apprenticeship rates.
The Turkish National Assembly rejects the Lausanne treaty as contrary to the National Pact while authorizing continued negotiations under conditions. Key aims include a limited Mosul settlement and independence in financial economic and administrative matters, with immediate evacuation of occupied territories after peace. The assembly disclaims responsibility if powers demand full treaty acceptance. In another item, Michigan legislature votes down capital punishment by 46 to 0.

Edmonton reports Hon. C. R. Mitchell and Ben Valier protested a government plan to group only government side members into departmental committees. Mitchell moved a motion condemning the scheme as unfair partisan favoritism that excludes opposition members and risks public-interest harm.
