Calcarian Sunk By Four Torpedoes Off Triish Coast
The Admiralty reported the British armed merchant cruiser Calcarian was torpedoed and sunk off Marvel Ist near the Trish coast. Two officers and 46 men perished. 610 aboard. Built in Glasgow 1914, 17000+ ton liner served on North Atlantic routes and once carried Sir Robert Borden. The sinking followed four torpedoes over a short period, with survivors being helped ashore in Ireland.
