Porter and Ware deaths linked to wheat dispute
The body of J F Bud Porter was found near Fort Vermilion Alta after an apparent self-inflicted shooting following the death of farmer William Ware age 56 in an argument over wheat. Ware, a Board of Trade member and farmer, left a widow and three step-children. Porter survives a widow and five step-children.

Fatal Nova Scotia Auto Collision Kills Four

Alberta's funded debts rise by 1.28 million in ten months
The Alberta treasury reports a net funded and unfunded debt increase of 1,275,748 between March 3, 1936, and Jan. 31, 1937. Happy Ernst Hanged Early This Morning at Fort Saskatchewan
Emmanuel Ernst, 34, was hanged in the Provincial Jail Fort Saskatchewan Alberta for slaying George Pogmore a Byemoor farmer in October. Mrs Pogmore also convicted of murder escaped the hangman due to a cabinet decision commuting her sentence to life imprisonment.

Sarnia Riots Eject Sit Down Strikers At Foundry
In Sarnia Point Edward March, nearly 20 were injured as 150 non-striking workers and others ejected sit-down strikers from the Homes Foundry plant. Twenty six strikers were later arrested for trespass after a half hour clash that damaged the plant. operations expected to resume tomorrow.

Rail unions vote to strike over wage cuts in Canada
Montreal March 3 ballots from every city and town indicate overwhelming support for restoring the 10 per cent wage cuts. Howard E. B. Chase, vice president of the conference of Canadian railway unions, said ballots were about 1000 per cent in agreement. About 117000 railway union members are being asked to give officers authority to strike if needed in talks with railway companies.

No. 7 Highway Open To Countess By Snow Plows
Snowplows have opened the highway from Medicine Hat to Countess about eight miles from Bassano. Local crews began clearing the road to Redcliff this morning. The plow’s efficiency improved after adjustments last week reducing ice problems and enabling easier cutting. Last Sunday near Duchess the plow traversed an icy stretch and flung ice slabs two feet thick.

Ottawa March 3 Hon C D Howe transport minister announced votes and proceedings on the resolution preliminary to the Air Lines Company bill.
