Edmonton March 4 One more legislative day ends with a clash as Col Mitchell accuses the provincial treasurer of deliberately withholding certain returns. When laid before the assembly the returns direct attention to a prior report, provoking wrathy reactions and sharp invective across the floor.
Distress spreads through West Ireland districts with potato supply fears and reduced wages. Government inquiry finds no general potato failure. Debate on hospital facilities for university and highways act dominates session as MPs spar over privilege and church union sitters. Sir Henry Thornton denies Winnipeg claim of employee voice in management, noting only advisory practices under consideration.
In Parliament today the Commons debate on the address will continue with Robert Forke of the Progressive Jeiters to speak first. Senate proceedings open with Senator Pardee moving and Senator Cote seconding the debate. Kansas City March 4 The city board of education, after a stormy session, unanimously voted to oust Damon, a high school instructor, for kissing a girl senior. Damon claimed he was the victim of a plot as nearly 300 students applauded at the meeting. The girl testified that Damon kissed her as a dare and would have faced harsher action if he refused.
Ottawa reports the Redistribution Bill received first reading in the House of Commons. The measure increases members by ten to 245, with BC +1, Manitoba +2, Alberta +4, Saskatchewan +5, Nova Scotia −2. Premier King moved the motion without debate.
One feature of the British Empire Exhibition opening in April at Wembley will be a detailed replica of the tomb of Tutankhamen at Luxor. Beautifully made replicas of tomb objects will let sightseers gain detailed knowledge of the ancient pharaoh's burial chamber.

Cadet F L M Arnold of Regina alleges at Kingston Ontario that seniors encourage and compel lying at the college and hold discipline meetings to force recruits to stand at rigid attention for hours. Seventeen recruits fainted, and Arnold passed out after two and a half hours at attention following his hospital discharge. He has returned from New York with his father, Major F G Arnold.
In Ottawa Otiwa March premiers Mackenzie King and opposition leader Meighen debated on the Commons floor. Meighen analyzed Canada’s export and import trade noting declines in farm product exports and rising raw material shipments abroad. He cited American figures showing Canadians exiting to the United States, criticized government policy, and questioned the throne speech as an electioneering document. The exchange included interruptions and sharp retorts as the session wore on.
Acker said the receivership would have no local effect and the Canada Land and Irrigation Company would continue its project as planned. Severed manager FLW Hanna indicated there would be no material disruption to the local organization or landholders, and reorganization was not anticipated.
