Separate school teachers seek 8 10 per cent hike
A delegation led by George Kambietz asked the separate school board for an 8 to 10 per cent pay increase arguing salaries have fallen behind student numbers and general wage growth. They cited 1964 salary gains and Canadian figures to urge a fair raise to attract teachers. A written request will follow for board consideration. Also discussed were CHAT TV and Radio notices and a safety hazard at St Francis Xavier School with a plan to investigate.

Five building permits issued in Medicine Hat week
The City of Medicine Hat issued five building permits valued at 56,500 in the week ending Feb. 26. E Link took out a 43000 permit for a six suite apartment at 659 8th St S W and Marynick Construction received a 12000 permit for a dwelling at 341 2nd St N W.

Magistrate Court Fines Community Food Services President
In the magistrate court Tuesday Edward Irving of Medicine Hat pleaded guilty under the Alberta Labor Act. He was fined 20 plus costs and ordered to repay 325.04 in back wages and vacation pay to Irene Zemaitis and James Willard. Sitter received 25 plus costs for liquor possession. Norris-Jones noted Irving owes 179.33 to Zemaitis and 151.71 to Willard and has six weeks to pay. Irving also faces a separate fraud charge in Lethbridge.
