Pearson welcomed by Alberta Liberals at Medcine Hat rally

A parade of about 200 Alberta Liberals cheered Lester B. Pearson as he arrived for the Alberta Young Liberal Association convention in Medcine Hat at 11 30 a m. He spoke to roughly 600 at the Towne Theatre and then left for Manitoba for engagement in Flin Flon and Dauphin. He outlined a three point program to boost the economy and create jobs, including a substantial tax cut.

Oland Wins Bow Island Hospital Contract

D. H. Oland Ltd of Medicine Hat has won a $121,667 contract to build a new municipal hospital at Bow Island. Immediate construction starts, with McKernan and Bovey of Edmonton handling architectural design. Plan to Expand Medicine Hat Airport Runways

A half million dollar program to expand the Medicine Hat municipal airport is announced by E. W. Ted Brunsden, Conservative candidate, after meeting Transport Minister George Hees. The 4400 foot runways would grow to 6000 feet to accommodate Viscounts and other aircraft, with expansion contingent on federal budget approval and the support of civic groups and the Chamber of Commerce. The project would begin this year if the budget is accepted.
