Prime Minister Mackenzie King assured in a radio address that overseas Canadian forces will receive full support in arms munitions and reinforcements. He announced parliament would be recalled on March 19 and suggested an election could occur in June, with family allowances due July 1.
United States Marines push toward a pivotal 362 foot hill 700 yards north of the island’s cliff, aiming to sever the boomerang shaped Japanese line and corner remaining defenders on Iwo Jima as they fight to hold the last interconnecting pillbox network.
A student pilot training at No. 3 S.F.T.S Currie was killed during a routine night flight. The plane crashed 3.5 miles west and 1.5 miles south of Crossfield at about 11 p.m. Friday. The pilot's name will be released after next of kin are notified. officials had no information on the crash cause.

Williams urges independent civil service, debt refinancing, and reestablishing provincial credit to attract industries.
