Goodwin dies at 58 in Winnipeg hospital

G Richard Goodwin 58 died suddenly in a Winnipeg hospital after a brief illness a month before taking the publisher post at The Medicine Hat News. He had visited Medicine Hat for the official opening of The NEWS building on 3257 Dunmore Rd SE and was to become publisher for Southam Inc. He previously edited The Tribune and led The Medicine Hat News 1961–1964. He served in WWII, studied pre med, began journalism in 1947, later becoming editor and ombudsman at The Tribune. He is survived by wife Barbara and two children.
