Olds Bowling Alley Owner Die in Blaze
Olds, Alta. Don Rapchan, about 30, owner of the Olds Bowla drome, was killed when a fire destroyed the bowling alley valued at $36,000 and damaged a coffee shop. RCMP Constable C. C. Conrad, smoke inhalation and exhaustion, was hospitalized after attempting rescue. Ronald Newsom and Conrad were repelled by smoke but returned with masks. Rapchan lay in the basement and was found about 25 feet from the basement steps.

In New York a 25 year old father of two, William Patrick Farrell, was charged with homicide in the rape slaying of Ann Yarrow, a New York University student. Farrell had been questioned after his arrest on a separate sex complaint and was linked to the Yarrow case during questioning.
