Landslide Tragedy Kills Fourteen on CPR Line at Revelstoke
Revelstoke British Columbia March 2 Fourteen men are dead with two missing and six injured after the tender of a locomotive rolled back onto a work crew on the Canadian Pacific Railway main line east of Downie about 30 miles from Revelstoke. The dead include Telegraph Operator J Roland and Trainman H L Haug and four laborers. Injured include division engineer G B Alexander division master mechanic A Shafer and three others. The accident followed an earlier slide that derailed a work train and occurred at 3 20 am. This is the worst CPR tragedy in British Columbia since the 1906 Rogers Pass slide. Trains were delayed by heavy rains and slides over the weekend.
