Ottawa March 2 The wholesale produce trade of Canada will come under the license of the Canada Food Board by March 2. No person firm or corporation may deal in meat lard cheese butter oleomargarine or poultry without a license from the Food Board. Exempts manufacturers of meat dairy and oleomargarine from licensing. Prices to retailers must not rise between producer and wholesalers. License may not destroy waste or permit deterioration of food intended for consumption.
Major Tarte and others attacked by critics over alleged statements about Capt Bailey. Sir William Hearst and William Proudfoot defended troops, calling the remarks slanderous to Canada’s soldiers abroad.
