Denis is charged with offering money to Montreal lawyer Pierre Lamontagne to drop opposition to bail for narcotics smuggler Lucien Rivard. Lamontagne represented the United States in seeking Rivard’s extradition from Canada to the US. Denis was an executive assistant to the federal immigration minister at the time.
