In Edmonton CP reports Alberta polled a record provincial election vote on Wednesday. Social Credit won with 48 percent, down from 56 percent in prior elections as 307,387 of 2,549 polls reported. Liberal share rose to 30 percent, CCF nine percent, while Pro vote faded. Final totals expected to exceed 308,864 set in 1940.

Stringam Defeats Cain in Alberta Riding Election
In 1935 Social Credit swept Alberta, with Stringam holding his seat for 20 years after a Liberal Conservative convention chose him.
