Five picnickers slipped from a log boom on the Upper Kaminiatiquia river yesterday. Eric Wattridge 21 and Louisé Tobont 12 of Mort William were drowned. Margaret Tobont 19 survived after grabbing the chain. Police were notified as dragging continued with no recoveries yet.

Man from Medicine Hat Dies by Self-Inflicted Shot near Pashley
James Gregg a 45 year old carpenter from Medicine Hat committed suicide with a 12 gauge shotgun at Edward McCorbie’s farm a few miles south of Pashley. Gregg had been visiting Irvine for six weeks and was staying at the farm when the tragedy occurred. An inquest was deemed unnecessary by investigators. Gregg was a bachelor with no relatives in the district.
