Wright Leads Assiniboia to 10-1 Win Over Royal Hotel

Al Wright pitched a two hitter with 13 strikeouts to lift Assiniboia Hotel to a 10-1 victory over Royal Hotel at Lions Park. Ed Winder, Tony Dirk, Al Wright and Sandy Meier homered for Assiniboia as they moved four points ahead of Alberta Western Beef in the league standings. Royal Hotel’s Bob Marik hit a homer and a single off Wright, while Rod Insko allowed ten hits in the nightcap as Alberta Western Beef beat Moose Larks 7-2. Next action at Lions Park Thursday features Moose Larks vs Dominion Glass Royals and Royal Hotel vs Alberta Western Beef.

Hall of Fame adds seven new members including Msgr Murray

Oilers name Kinasewich coach in WHA

Edmonton Ontario born Ray Kinasewich, 38, named coach of Alberta Oilers in the World Hockey Association. Kinasewich reunites a management team that led Edmonton Oil Kings to the 1966 Memorial Cup, with Bill Hunter as general manager. Kinasewich previously coached in the Montreal Canadiens organization and led Houston in CPHL and Salt Lake City in the WHL.
