Twelve of sixteen Poles accused of subversive activity behind Red Army lines were convicted in a Soviet court and given prison terms from four months to 10 years. Three were acquitted. one trial postponed. Maj Gen L Bronislaw Okulicki received the heaviest sentence of 100 years. Jan Jankowski, deputy prime minister in exile, got eight years. Sentences date from March 27. no appeals were allowed.

Canada will send about 30,000 men to Camp Breck en ridge Kentucky for Pacific theater training starting next September.
