Painting stays above the fireplace at Woodperry House
A 1748 Westminster Abbey painting by an unknown artist must remain above the oak mantel after the South Oxfordshire District Council refused permission to remove it. Gavin Ring, an Oxfordshire councillor, challenged the ruling, but the Department of the Environment upheld the council, noting the work’s architectural and historic value to the building.
