Orangemen Convene in Regina for 59th Dominion Meeting

Free from the first session of the Grand Black Chapter of British America visiting Orangemen toured Regina as the 59th annual Dominion-wide gathering opened. John Thompson of Toronto, grand master, addressed hundreds while reports and fraternal matters filled the three hour session. A public banquet is planned Wednesday with Hon. J. F. Bryant as speaker. The meeting marks the first Regina gathering since 1914.

Sommerville Reaches Fourth Round in British Amateur Golf

East More Optimistic in Business and Financial Ways Says Brownlee

Eastern Canada remains hopeful about business and finance compared with last January when Brownlee spoke in the West. He arrived back at his office Monday and urged absorption of unemployed through National Defence relief projects. He aimed to renew relief deals with Premier Rob Bennett before the Imperial Conference. Three Die In Big Bear Lake Plane Crash

San Bernardino June 19 bodies of film actress Vera Williams known as Claudette Ford director Harry Sweet and writer Hal Davitt were recovered from wreckage of a plane at Big Bear Lake 6000 feet up. The craft vanished after takeoff from Los Angeles airport while Sweet piloted it.

Council probes bribery claim in city employee case

A council inquiry reviewed a former employee Jack Jordon’s bribery allegation against foreman W. Craig over a $2 payoff to keep his job. Ferry Tragedy Near Copper City Drowns Three

Three people drowned when a light truck sank after crossing a small Copper City ferry on the Skeena river. Victims include Mildred Clark 18 Gerald Clark 12 and George Dobbie 12. Ferryman H Clark survived after five minutes in the water. Mrs Clark escaped. No bodies recovered though part of the car was found two miles downstream.

Britain Has Paid More to U S on Debts Than It Has Received

London reports the government could not commit on whether Britain will press its foreign debtors for payments. Britain has paid the United States far more than it has received since debt funding a decade ago. Allies owed Britain £2.312 billion. Britain owed the U S £945 million. Including interest, Britain paid the U S £357 million while debtor nations returned only £71.
