Olson denied bid to appeal top court
Clifford Olson Canada’s most notorious serial killer has been refused leave to appeal to the Supreme Court. The court said it will not hear his challenge to the fairness of his 1990s faint-hope parole hearing and related access to documents. Olson is serving a life sentence for the sexual assault torture and murder of eight girls and three boys in the early 1980s.

Quebec charter flight crashes near Montreal killing 11
A small twin engine commuter plane crashed near Mirabel Quebec on Thursday killing nine GE Canada employees and two pilots. Pilot Jean Provencher and co pilot Walter Stricker died alongside the others. The flight originated from Dorval and after reporting a hydraulic leak the plane attempted an emergency landing ending in a fireball.
