Local Argonauts Plan Saskatoon River Trip

A trio led by H. C. Yuill CG Johnston and Y N Laidlaw will launch a 20 foot motor launch at eight tomorrow morning for a river voyage to Saskatoon and possibly Lake Winnipeg. They expect to ride the current at about fifteen miles an hour and aim to set a motor boat record on the Saskatchewan River.

Railway Bill Renewal Passes Canadian House Committee

In Ottawa on June 17 the Railway Committee of the House of Commons approved a bill renewing the Calgary and Fernie Railway Company charter for two years despite opposition from Independent M P J T Shaw of Calgary West. Shaw noted the original 1906 charter and little construction. debate delayed progress and some urged another chance before possible charter cancellation in two years. The proposal to shorten the renewal to one year was defeated.
