The Southeast Alberta Regional Planning Commission released draft policies ahead of a council meeting. Topics cover agricultural planning urban fringe structure, annexation processes, land use efficiency water resources and rural industry. The proposals seek public and municipal reaction and may shape a regional plan for the district.

Alberta announces final funding package for Medicine Hat and other cities under a six year urban parks expansion program. The city will receive 13.3 million for development and land purchases with 10 percent annual operating costs funded for 30 years, tapering to city management after 1989.
