Calgary Sees Second Traffic Fatality In 14 Hours

In Calgary a woman identified as Mrs Elsie Juyell about 35 of Manchester area died after being struck by a car on the city's southern outskirts in drizzle and dim lighting. The driver was unknown. Earlier, about 9 am, C R MacKinnon died when a car driven by Stanley Foss lost control and crushed him between two parked cars, marking the sixth and seventh traffic deaths in Calgary this year.

Mayors invited to novelty event at western plowing match

Portage la Prairie invites mayors from across Canada for a novelty event linked to the June 27 western Canada Manitoba plowing match. Four have said they will attend: the mayors of Neepawa Brandon Carberry and Medicine Hat. In Edmonton, judgment was reserved in a $30,000 damage suit by George Chambers against driver Clifford Bulmer from an August 16 1954 collision.
