Marshall's Juniors strengthened their first place in the senior men's fastball league by taking both ends of a Sunday doubleheader from the RCAF Flyers. Bill Chacalias sparked a 5-3 opener win with a three-hit effort, while Norm Bonin earned the second win with a five-hit performance. Bruce Perrin led Juniors with two hits in the opener as the club built a 3-0 first inning lead and later held off a Flyers rally.
Ben Hogan lost to Julius Boros of Southern Pines N C a little-known entrant who shot 281 to Hogan 286. Boros earned 4000 dollars and heads to New England as Hogan vows no more tournaments this year while Johnny Bulla skips Louisville and Porky Oliver advances with a 285.
Joe Drasko vich from Kansas City Kansas won the sweep stakes event in Milwaukee ending Saturday. He posted a five game total of 1114 to take top money of 3000 dollars with Roy Granneman of Waterloo Texas finishing runner up at 1112 for 2300 dollars.
Tottenham Hotspur overwhelmed Manchester United 7-1 before 24 582 fans at Yankee Stadium in the second straight win of their U S tour. Len Duquemin scored four goals to spark a 4-1 halftime lead as Spurs continued their strong showing.
Canadian athletes at the US collegiate championships place in finals as John Barnes of Occadental runs 1 49 6 in 800 metres to break the meet record and approach Olympic prep. Jim Lavery of Calgary finishes fifth in the 400 metres final behind George Rhoden with Jack Carroll seventh. John Ross places fifth in the 1500 metres final aiding Canada's Helsinki bid.
Grossinger New York reports light heavyweight champion Joey Maxim was knocked off his feet in a Sunday training camp drill. Maxim, who has challenged Jersey Joe Walcott and Ezzard Charles multiple times without being knocked down, said it was the first time a punch felled him in a workout.
Harry Kingsmith of Toronto named the polishing touch to Canada’s crews for Helsinki 1952. The Toronto Argonauts senior eight, Hamilton Leanders senior four, and Winnipeg Rowing Club senior doubles earned Olympic bids after triumphs in three-event trials at the Royal Canadian Henley course before 4 000 spectators.
Glass City Red Sox split a doubleheader with Vauxhall in Redcliff. Wittke pitched well in the opener but took the loss as Blaine drew a key walk then scored on Keys. In the nightcap Alex Biko threw a three hitter with 10 strikeouts, Eck Madsen hit a first inning homer, and Red Sox erupted for eight runs in the sixth.

Sunday the Boston Braves traded pitcher Dick Donovan and infielder Roy Wattsfield to Milwaukee for two AmA farmhands pitcher Virgil Jester and second baseman Jack Dittmer.
