Truck Mishap Kills 14 U S Soldiers at Fort Campbell
Fourteen paratroopers died and nine were injured when a 2 ton Army truck failed to make a curve at Fort Campbell Kentucky. The vehicle left a gravel road crossed a steel guard rail and fell into Piney Fork Creek. An H-34 helicopter lifted the truck and transported the injured to the base hospital as search and rescue crews removed the bodies.
