A Herald Tribune report says eight organizations representing 250,000 Irish Americans are uniting to oppose de Valera's government in Ireland. Seventeen conspirators met in a Madison Avenue hotel to discuss the alleged plot to seize control.
Medicine Hat chamber of commerce directors urged forming small water users associations in surrounding districts to coordinate with the water development committee under the Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Act. Walter Huckvale will invite prospective members and a Suffield Ronalane committee will press government to restore the old ditch system. L B Thomson stated plans are being considered but unlikely this year as funds are allocated.
The case against the Bronfman brothers Sam Allan Harry Abe Costley Barney Aaron F S Blair, all of Montreal, and William Yule of Halifax, plus Dave Costley, was dismissed by Judge Jules Demaris. Eight of 66 arrested remain charged with conspiracy to defraud the Dominion government of five million dollars through liquor smuggling.
WITTENBERG Germany June 14 Nazi district leader Otto Heidenreich announced casualties from the Westfalian Anhalt explosive works explosion now total 52 dead 75 seriously injured and 300 slightly injured. He said funerals will be held next week and state aid will cover funeral costs and wages until widows and orphans pensions begin. He rejected sabotage as cause and noted plant flooding limits danger while nearby streets near Reinsdorf remain closed.
Glasgow votes to depart from traditional financing and issue a mortgage backed loan of 2,500,000 pounds at 51 percent redeemable July 1. The move follows a dispute with the Bank of England and is expected to save the city 75,000 pounds in interest and 35,000 pounds in underwriting and stock brokers fees.
On the Banff highway between the old and new park gates John Adam of Calgary aged [illegible] died at 6 pm Thursday after his car rolled over while descending a hill. His wife sustained chest contusions and serious injuries and remained in Banff hospital in serious condition. Witnesses said the car swerved right then left and plunged off the road before turning over.
In Ottawa on June 14 the government won two divisions in the House of Commons on introducing the alternative vote for Dominion elections in Saskatchewan. The votes were 77 to 39 and 75 to 37 amid Liberal opposition. The bill faces debate before a second reading, with Liberals and two Independents voting against while farmers, labor members and Conservatives supported it. The system allows a second preference when more than two candidates run.

A private group seeks public donations to raise exactly 72 dollars for the fare and expenses of thirteen young On-to-Ottawa relief camp strikers who left for Regina this morning by Central Canadian Greyhound bus. The News cooperates and will accept contributions at the editorial or business offices. The plan followed a Riverside Park protest meeting after the RCMP blocked their eastbound freight departure and an Ottawa order halted the main group at Regina.
After nearly fifty years of steady service Fred Sproule, local Canadian Pacific freight agent at Medicine Hat, retires on pension at end of June after sixteen years in the post.
