Ottawa June 13 Senator Edward Michener urged the senate to treat productive work as Canada's top issue and suggested using part of a 50 million dollar public works fund for housing. He also backed back to the land irrigation expansion and prairie drought relief, highway expansion, and a national board of commissioners from municipalities provinces and the Commonwealth to oversee major enterprises.
Regina reports 168 Saskatchewan candidates for the June 19 general election with 53 for Farmer-Labor and Co operative forces each, while Ontario lists 262 nominees for 90 ridings led by Conservatives, Liberals and the CCF. Voting in Athabaska is deferred to July 24.

Seventeen crewmen remain missing. Naval district officials in Colon Panama said search vessels could not be sent for a lifeboat with 18 men adrift after the sinking off Honduras.

In Geneva on June 13 the Japanese delegation said they must reserve the same guarantees for execution of the disarmament convention as for supervision of armaments. Boris Stein, the Russian delegate, stated Russia would not accept the agreement unless its neighbors sign, specifically calling out Japan.
