A Wolfe Island family in Kingston found 60 pink white and turquoise balloons floating ashore after landing in the water. A note revealed the balloons were released from Venona Newfoundland two days earlier to honor twins Einar and Inez Holander on their 90th birthday.

A Medicine Hat resident, Mark Schnell, faced a sad twin blow after a kitchen fire and a rollover crash Saturday night. Fire crews extinguished a stove fire at 721 Sixth St. S.W. with damage near 200 dollars. Schnell, returning from a tractor pull, was broadsided by a Pontiac, trapping Joanne Gilbert and injuring Joe Goodison and his son Roy Pelgrom. Gilbert required Jaws of Life and sustained crushed vertebrae and other injuries but was released that night. Goodison suffered severe whiplash and head injuries and was released Sunday evening.

Motive in Salina murder baffling town
In Salina Oklahoma two teenage boys Johnny Jumper Jr 17 and Herman Chooch Snells 14 are charged with first degree murder for beating 33 year old Robert Ballard to death. Witnesses describe Ballard as mentally retarded and childlike. Prosecutors cite robbery and a possible lewd remark as motives but details remain unclear. Ballard was known in town for daily walks and friendly greetings.
