Mulroney unveils 970 million Quebec aid ahead of byelection

Prime Minister Brian Mulroney and Premier Robert Bourassa announce a 970 million five year package for Quebec. Federal shares 515 million, Quebec 455 million for industrial development. The timing aims to aid Lucien Bouchard ahead of the Lac St Jean byelection. About 65 million targets the North Shore region including Manicouagan.

Alberta minister urges WCL to relocate near border

Alberta Employment Minister Rick Orman urged the Western Canada Lottery Corporation to move procurement printing and data facilities to a town on the Saskatchewan Alberta border such as Lloydminster. He said the move could create hundreds of jobs for residents of both provinces and warned Manitoba may be affected if benefits do not meet Alberta ticket sales.
