Meter Pros Cons Heard By Council

Miners Walk Off Job in Drumheller Strike

About 160 coal miners from the bygrade local of the United Mine Workers walked off Monday in protest of hiring and firing practices at the Hygrade Mine in Drumheller. Negotiations were to open that afternoon to end the unauthorized strike after led by Arthur Roberts, local president.

In a Supreme Court session Joseph Breland, 23, faced charges of robbing Henry George Sauer of about $190 at a local hotel after a day of drinking. Margarine Price Cut Announced For Winnipeg Stores

Margarine will drop three cents a pound tomorrow and will retail in most Winnipeg stores at 35 cents a pound. The reduction follows a marked decrease in margarine ingredient costs. Grade A butter sells at 60 cents a pound in Winnipeg stores.
