Halifax man fled bail aided by taxpayers, court records show
Halifax resident Lloyd Eugene Bailey, 30, skipped bail on charges including sexual assault of a minor and weapons offences dating to 1997. Estate officers bought him a plane ticket to British Columbia and the Nova Scotia Justice Department later paid $12,000 to send two peace officers to return him in March. Bailey had been on welfare since a 1990 car accident and had claimed his support network had collapsed.
