Grace Lutheran marks second anniversary with group photos

Grace Lutheran Church celebrates two years since starting services in the IOOF hall. After the morning service, moving and still pictures will be taken for church records as the congregation hopes all former attendees attend. The pastor will preach on the Trinity and the Great Commission. There is no evening service. the pastor and youth will attend a social in Tilley.

Golden Jubilee Anthology Showcases Alberta Pioneer History

Alberta editors present the Golden Jubilee Anthology a six section collection of fiction poetry and prose with about 100 Alberta authors. It covers Alberta up to 1905 the 1905 to 1945 era today and the economic golden decade featuring ranching oil and resources. The book includes works by Ross Annett W Q Mitchell Elsie Park Gowan and Dr W G Hardy with 30 poets and full color illustrations making it a lasting memory of the Jubilee year.

Uncle Charlie Proudly Turns 101 In Bridgetown

Charles Albert Owen known as Uncle Charlie celebrates his 101st birthday in Bridgetown Nova Scotia. He arrived in 1877 from Wadeville and remains a lively Salvation Army supporter despite being a widower for a year. He married his second wife at 98 and has 12 children by his first wife.

Oldest May Queen of New Westminster Dies at 82

Mrs. Anna Josephine Leishman, longtime city figure and the oldest surviving May Queen, died at 82. She reigned in 1882 and is survived by two sons one grandchild and four great grandchildren.
