A major fire in Medicine Hat Friday afternoon gutted the government building used as immigration shed court house and police quarters. Losses include the building and Mr Jas Sanderson’s livery stable with damages estimated around 4000 dollars. Firefighters saved adjacent structures but several residents and police staff suffered minor injuries from glass and heat.
Not having opportunity personally we express sincere gratitude through your paper to all concerned for the able efforts in saving our dwelling from fire on Friday May 21. Mr and Mrs J H Spencer and Mr and Mel Fleming Keen thank all who rendered valuable services during the recent fire.

F W Jones named assistant to the manager. Assistant superintendent title abolished and holders become superintendents. Several promotions to June first include Cameron in Fort William Winnipeg line, Murray in Winnipeg branched to Estevan, Milestone to Swift Current, Niblock Swift Current to Donald and Lethbridge to Macleod, and others. Marpole oversees Pacific division with new posts. Downie, Duchesnay, Beasley named superintendents for Cascade Thompson, Shuswap Selkirk, and Kootenay regions. Manager Whyte plans a westward tour soon.
