Detroit June 2. Senior immigration inspector Zerambe drove his car into a grounded aeroplane at Pennsylvania and Law avenues to stop two aliens aboard. The impact shattered the propeller and damaged the aircraft, injuring Zerambe slightly. The pilot fled, while Zerambe detained the two aliens still inside the craft.
Canadian and Kiwanis clubs jointly host a luncheon at the Cecil Hotel tomorrow to celebrate the King's Birthday. David H. Elton of Lethbridge will speak on the British Empire. Due to limited seating, reserve with Secretary A. E. Marshall at once.
June 2 Regina area reports no definite figures on wind damage. Estimates place the heaviest losses between Moose Jaw and Regina with 60 percent at Pease and 35 percent at Pasqua. East and south of Regina injuries are lighter, two to ten percent. Weyburn logs show ten percent damage. Re seeding needed in Kisbey and Froude. A beneficial rain followed by cool weather boosted crop prospects and moisture arrived in time to avert further damage from the recent high winds and soil drift.

In heavy fog near Beachy Head the Swedish steamer Inger collided with the Italian motor ship Lierna. Fifteen crewmen are believed dead. only three of the Inger’s eighteen aboard survive. Survivor Lindfors, a Swede, said the vessel sank as it was struck amidships and boats could not be launched.
Saskatoon reports the body of W. Bert Boldridge a 25 year old brokerage house employee found Saturday in the Saskatchewan river by fishermen. He had been missing since May 20 and allegedly left a letter for a friend in Brandon Manitoba declaring intention to take his own life. An official hearing is set for Thursday.
James Shealdown was found guilty of attempting to break into Riverside Bakery and received a suspended two month sentence on condition he leave the city on the next train. He said he and his wife had travelled to Vancouver for work but no money remained for their return home. The charge against J Binko for breaking into Baxter battery service station was withdrawn.
Stockholm June 2 The Swedish Cabinet resigned following defeats in both chambers of the Riksdag on a proposal to raise tariffs on imported wheat. The government faced swift backlash and the unity of the coalition is in doubt.
Central Alberta suffered heavy winds over the past week with soil drifting damaging grain fields. No official crop damage estimate has been issued by the Department of Agriculture. Rain was minimal over the weekend and drifting danger is believed to be easing.
F H Bob White a Elko gambler died in the Nevada State Prison lethal gas chamber in Carson City. He had been convicted on circumstantial evidence of the murder of Louis Cavell, another gambler. A jar of sulfuric acid and water released cyanide eggs to generate gas as a cord pulled from the next room activated the device. White gasped as the chamber filled and died within minutes.
The Fish and Game Association alerted Dr. Gershaw M P about cattle trampling duck nests at Many Island Lake. A May 15 telegram to Interior Dept Ottawa prompted RCMP to ride out and drive cattle from the affected lake area.
