Bangor Maine June 1 Mabel Stark animal trainer narrowly escaped death as seven tigers attacked during a show. Lions tamer and attendant drove the beasts off with spears and revolvers. Stark taken to hospital with severe lacerations after the melee watched by about 6000 spectators.
The Southern Cross landed at Wheeler Field Honolulu at 9 49 a m local time after a 2400 mile flight from Oakland begun the previous day. The crew of four reported ongoing radio contact as they approached Hawaii and prepared for Australia with speeds around 86 mph at altitudes between 1850 and 2500 feet.
Ottawa debate focused on the 1921 sale of the steamer Vigilant and its $2,250 per month charter. MPs accused graft as Hon. W S Black and others pressed claims of improper conduct by the Meighen government, while minister Euler defended the arrangement and the Liberal government’s role.
