Ottawa reports Captain Pouliot of the Lady Evelyn is ordered to persist in recovering bodies from the Empress of Ireland disaster. He will work without delay or expense limits, reporting by wireless after detailing crews recovering 137 bodies and 237 survivors.
Corinth Kentucky June 1 fire nearly wiped the village with an estimated loss of 75000 dollars. Nineteen commercial buildings were burned and only one store remains intact.
A cryptic line notes Magistrate Rae remained sober this morning with no one to challenge or test the spell of sobriety.
Two men were killed and seven seriously injured when sewer gas exploded at an East Boston sewage pumping station. The blast demolished the building and hurled debris over a six hundred foot radius.

A bush fire broke out yesterday afternoon at Penland Flats near the Medicine Hat Brick Co. opposite Police Point. Police sent six constables after word reached them at six o clock. Due to thick undergrowth the blaze could not be battled directly, so a back fire was set to burn it out. The patrol remained on scene about six hours.
