More than ten thousand spectators watched a colorful Kiddies Parade winding from McLeod Trail and 3rd Street S.E. to Riverside Park. Children in costumes rode floats bicycles and bands played as Lions Boys Band Moose Girls Pipe Band and Shrine Band led the cheerful procession.

Scientist injured in Suffield blast
An American scientist, Dr. T. B. Witherly of the Stanford Research Institute, was seriously injured when a gauge exploded during large scale explosion tests at Suffield. He was flown to Medicine Hat General Hospital in improved condition. The incident delayed a 20 ton TNT detonation nearby, leaving a crater 20 feet deep and 80 to 90 feet wide. The next test tentative for October.

Lethbridge to Get Alberta's Third University

Five injured as car overturns on Eagle Butte road
