Taxi panel votes to keep medallion 666 in service

San Francisco taxi commission votes 5-1 to retain medallion No. 666 on the streets. Cab driver Michael Byrne had urged retirement, citing bad luck, while fellow drivers defended the number with humor and protest. Parkview Drive Reconstruction Set to Begin

Medicine Hat News reports the Parkview Drive and 20 Street intersection will close starting August 6 as the city reconstructs Parkview Drive from 20 Street to Police Point Park. Utility work and connections to Ranchlands Boulevard are planned with traffic controls in place.

Brooks RCMP seek vandals in Sutherland Drive Chevy damage

Brooks RCMP investigate vandalism to a blue Chevy Cobalt parked in front of the Sutherland Drive 7 Eleven. The rear window on the driver's side was smashed between 10 and 11 a.m. Thursday. Police request public tips to identify those responsible and advise contacting Brooks RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

Valleyview police warn after woman attacked in home

In Valleyview Alberta the RCMP urged residents to lock doors after a woman was sexually assaulted by an unknown male who entered her home early Thursday. The suspect, described as possibly in his 20s or 30s, is considered dangerous. the victim’s condition is not released. Valleyview lies about 350 kilometres north of Edmonton.
