Police and press describe the Comrey Farm shooting as likely tied to frustrated robbery. Brothers Peter and Louie Borgengs shared land and prosperity while Odegarde, their Norwegian hired man, survived a wound. The incident occurred in the early hours as intruder demanded Louie.
A Chinese postal blockade isolates Manchukuo with 800 post offices closed in the last day. China’s national government aims to cut postal communication with Manchukuo, leaving the region without mail services. Separately in Newfoundland the explorer’s body was identified as F R Connell of Len Ridge New Jersey.

Kiel July 26 The German naval training ship Niobe sank off Fehmarn Belt in a hurricane. Sixty nine aboard were missing feared drowned. forty survivors were saved by the nearby steamer Therese Russ as rescue ships searched the waters.
Captain Wolfgang von Gronau and three companions completed their westward trans Atlantic voyage in the Greenland Wahl seaplane landing at Independence Harbor Cartwright Labrador. They flew from Ivigtut Greenland 60 miles across Davis Strait to the Labrador coast in eight hours and 45 minutes. Plans include a 900 mile flight around Labrador then along the St Lawrence to Montreal with possible Chicago leg to showcase northern crossing feasibility.

Mrs Wheeler returns Sunday after visiting the Smiths at Cherry Grove farm. Gordon Memorial Sunday school picnic scheduled for Wednesday with good attendance expected. Mr and Mrs Badeaux depart for Hamilton Ontario for vacation. Mr Wright joins them. Mr and Mrs G Davis travel to Elk Water Lake Saturday. George remains.

Ottawa July 25 The Imperial Economic Conference faces Russian dumping as the main issue for Commonwealth trade. A sub-committee of Canada and Great Britain will study import restrictions export controls and private market arrangements while Russia’s wheat exports and state farms loom large.
During a formation flight at Trenton air station Flight Lieutenant H. W. Hewson suffered critical injuries and was rushed to hospital. Flying Officer F. M. Gobeil from Ottawa was forced to parachute from his aircraft after the collision in midair.

A. J. MacAuley of Waseca was reelected president of the United Farmers of Canada Saskatchewan section for a third term. Delegates discussed finances and pledged $10 per local lodge to the central executive to meet expenses. A patriotic acre plan would solicit grain proceeds to fund the association. Separate Saskatoon meetings by United Farmers and Laborites planned a joint campaign for the next provincial election, aiming to unite leadership for a combined farmer labor political force.
In Calgary next week a national convention of political groups with socialist leanings will meet to form a new party. Western Canadian farm groups will be represented along with Agnes McPhail and Humphrey Mitchell. The aim is to harmonize diverse goals toward a cooperative commonwealth replacing competitive capitalism. Robert Gardiner of Alberta United Farmers will attend, with Saskatchewan and Ontario delegates joining the discussions.
Rioting broke out in St John’s Newfoundland early today with windows and shops shattered. Police scattered the mob after midnight, arresting 18 unemployed demonstrators and detaining 4 ring leaders while patrolling the streets to restore order. One officer remained hospitalized and another injured. others were released by noon.
