Freland Wilford Crowned World Wheat King at Regina Show

Freland Wilford from Stavely Alberta won the World Wheat crown at the Regina Grain Exhibition. He beat Herman Trelle of Wembley in earlier Chicago shows and captured first place in hard red spring wheat with Ke ward strain. Alberta earned 24 of 50 prizes, with Saskatche wan 15, British Columbia 5, and Manitoba 1.

Jailed Killer Found Hanged in Regina Prison

Alberta Government Sells $1 Million Provincial Bonds

Edmonton July 24. The Alberta government announced the sale of a $1,000,000 bond issue bearing 4 percent interest maturing in 20 years at a cost to the province of 5.66. Proceeds will go to general revenue and unemployment relief, reducing reliance on Dominion borrowing ahead of a $3,000,000 issue due in New York in November.
