London observers report the eighth Royal Air Force show, guided by Air-Marshal Sir John Salmond, highlighting Home Defence and Empire Protection. The display features a London air battle, rapid climbs, and coordinated bomber and fighter formations illustrating air power and empire defense.
Angelus Temple members rebelled under Rev Jaynes over control of finances and church affairs. Evangelist leader Aimee McPherson returned to quell the insurrection by announcing Rev C. E. Jaynes as business manager and Mrs Minnie Kennedy’s replacement by her mother.

London July 25 A special conference of the Baldwin Cabinet at No 10 Downing Street reviewed progress at the Geneva tripartite naval conference. The Earl of Balfour aged 79 celebrated his birthday and, despite his years, played tennis and helped untangle disarmament issues while serving as acting Colonial Secretary in Amery’s absence.
A Canadian National crop survey notes wheat nearly all headed in some districts, 50 to 75 percent in others, with rye coloring and flax blooming. Hail minor in Saskatchewan, Alberta hardest hit. Central Alberta reports first rate crops with heavy yields expected. Army worms at Gledden noted and moisture trends vary by district.
European courts stir fades as Carol, grieving father’s death, denies any move to throne. He remains secluded at Neuilly villa and rejects demands for a declaration while sending flowers to Queen Maria. Mme Lupescu visits. Romanians in Paris note Queen Marie’s growing influence in Romania.
Lieut C C Champion Naval flier reported a dramatic crash during an unofficial world altitude attempt. Bureau of Standards readings now indicate barographs show 39 000 feet due to fire damage during descent. Champion stayed with the aircraft to save the instruments.

Jasper Alberta July 23 Despite adverse weather the American scientific expedition led by Alfred J Ostheimer progresses on the Clemenceau icefield near the terra incognita north of the Columbia icefield. Three new ascents added and large areas traversed. A week in Lick Creek country proved arduous with a short rest before work resumes on Clemenceau peaks.
Pictou Nova Scotia July 25 Major Sidney Cotton a d elita aviator who has been conducting an unsuccessful aerial search for the missing French airmen Nungesser and Coll over Newfoundland and who arrived here from St George Nld yesterday after abandoning the search continued his flight to New York this morning Major Cotton and companions are flying the monophine Jeanne D Arc in which they pursued their search.
Western Canada farmers in the Prairie Wheat Pool will receive 27 million dollars this week. Interim payments of 20 cents a bushel on higher grade wheat and 10 cents on some lower grades were announced by E B Ramsay secretary of the Central Selling Agency. Saskatchewan to receive about 17.9 million, Alberta 6.5 million, Manitoba 2.7 million. No coarse grain payments yet.
Bucharest reports Princess Helen mother of the boy king Michael has risen to prominence after Queen Marie failed to gain a regency role. She is praised in newspapers while Marie is dubbed the Dowager Queen. Observers foresee Helen shaping Romania’s dynastic and state affairs until her son is of age, with Marie’s indirect influence via Prince Nicolas remaining limited.
In New York an action filed in the Supreme Court seeks ten percent of Tunney’s $200,000 Dempsey bout earnings and twenty five percent of post bout earnings. Tim Mara accuses Gene Tunney and manager Billy Gibson of an implied agreement. Also note Edmonton fair attendance was 17,000 on opening day, with rain affecting turnout.
Thousands gathered in Curtea de Arges for the funeral of King Ferdinand founder of New Romania. The procession traveled 150 miles from Bucharest to the royal tomb as peasants in white garments showed mourning and Queen Marie spoke of Ferdinand as a saint on earth and his greatest monument being Greater Romania.
An earth vibration lasting several seconds was felt in Quebec and nearby communities. A telephone message reported the tremor reaching St. Joachim and Cape Tourmente. No damage was reported.
London reports five miners trapped after the Au guste Victoria mine pit head collapsed in the Ruhr district. A rush of water created a crater hundreds of yards deep, forcing evacuation of houses within a mile. Explosions preceded the disaster, but most workers escaped.
At the funeral in Chaten De Arves Queen Marie followed the coffin and glimpsed the tomb prepared for her beside her late husband Ferdinand. She trembled and recoiled as she viewed the shallow pit for Ferdinand and then her own designated grave. The somber scene stood beside Carmen Sylva and Queen Elizabeth amid the solemn rites.
Premier Bracken issues first caucus call since the June 28 election. Progressive members summoned to Winnipeg on August 12 to consider calling a special session of the legislature to enact beer by the glass. Bracken Major and Cotlingham will return from western provinces. Bracken plans a trip to Quebec regarding liquor systems.
Dublin July 25 George Plunket and nine men arrested on a conspiracy charge in connection with the assassination of Vice President Kevin O Higging on July 10 were discharged this morning as no evidence was offered against them.
Winnipeg July 25 heavy selling forced more wheat price declines as offerings exceeded demand. Large Canadian interests blamed for liquidations. October delivery fell 11.4 cents. overall losses ranged 0.5 to 0.875 cent. Barley led other grains with continued inquiry and some export activity. Oats and rye rose near the close.
