Orka Management rescinded its sole bid to take over Invest Medicine Hat after public concerns about a tainted process. The unsigned press release says the bid was designed to save costs and boost regional economic development, but the city will re evaluate the RFP with community questions.
Alberta renews its agreement with Ottawa for child care and prolongs talks on the $10 a day program. The extension keeps existing subsidies and delays signing the federal subsidy, with Ottawa providing 290 million over four years plus a 56 million one time recruitment fund.
Mayor Ted Clugston says he will call for a third party audit of the Invest Medicine Hat privatization process. He expects the review to vindicate city hall and notes bidding may be paused until October while scrutiny grows over how the RFP was developed and evaluated.
