Sask. doctors reach governance deal on universal medical care

Mediation by Lord Taylor announced a Saskatchewan settlement in the medical care dispute. The Saskatchewan College of Physicians and Surgeons and the CCF government signed an agreement calling a special legislature session to amend law and allow voluntary non profit insurers to participate. Doctors who stopped normal services July 1 are urged to resume practice while provisions bar discrimination against patients not in voluntary schemes. The plan aims to merge universal coverage with professional freedom and allow doctors to practice inside or outside the act.

Canadian Pacific Empress of Lima Crash at Honolulu

A Canadian Pacific Airliner crashed during an emergency landing at Honolulu International Airport killing 27. Thirteen survived with minor injuries, all from the tail section, after the aircraft struck runway construction and split apart. Train Crash Kills 30 in Dijon France

Laos peace talks end in jovial neutrality accord

The Laos talks concluded with a declaration of independent neutrality and territorial integrity. Soviet Foreign Minister Gromyko led the 14 nation conference with co chairmen Russia and Britain. Chester Ronning and Canada signed for four times to seal the agreement alongside Green and Prince Souvanna Phouma. Leon Mayrand praised by Souvanna Phouma for his role in preventing full scale war. Leftist Algerian rebels form rival FLN regime in Tlemcen

Algeria's Ahmed Ben Bella loyalists broke with Premier Ben Youssef Ben Khedda to establish a seven member political bureau to lead the country and reshape the party and army.
